Press release: Marktlink Capital raises over 500 million euro

By Constanteyn Roelofs

Investment in Private Equity and Venture Capital Funds

Amsterdam, 12 August 2025 – Investment company Marktlink Capital has raised €520 million from private investors for two funds. The amount will be allocated across various private equity and venture capital funds and comes from around one thousand Dutch entrepreneurs and families. In this way they invest in hundreds of strong companies, and the entrepreneurship that drives them.

Marktlink Capital makes private equity and venture capital accessible to private investors. Since its founding in 2020, more than €2.5 billion in committed capital has been raised. Through the fund-of-funds and feeder fund model, Marktlink Capital channels capital into a variety of private equity and venture capital funds that were previously only accessible to institutional investors. As a result, almost two thousand Dutch entrepreneurs and families have gained access to funds that would otherwise have been out of reach.

Fund Closed Well Above Target

Marktlink Capital recently closed its fifth private equity fund-of-funds at €440 million, far exceeding its target of €300 million. The capital was raised in roughly six months, much faster than anticipated. “Despite, or perhaps because of, these turbulent economic times, we have succeeded in raising a record amount for one of our funds,” says Hylke Hertoghs, Managing Partner at Marktlink Capital. “Geopolitical tensions, trade tariffs, and the declining appeal of real estate as an asset class are increasing uncertainty in the stock market. Investors are therefore increasingly turning to broader, more diversified investment strategies.”

The capital raised will be invested in eleven private equity funds, including Hg, Adams Street Partners, Egeria, and Mill Point Capital. Hertoghs: “The funds we have selected offer a good mix of Dutch, European, and North American funds that are aligned with current market conditions. Several have already started investing, and the first valuations are coming in higher than expected.”

Venture Capital Fund Also Reaches ‘Hard Cap’

Almost simultaneously with the fifth private equity fund, Marktlink Capital successfully closed its third venture capital fund at the maximum amount of €80 million. Part of the capital has already been invested in reputable funds, and several underlying technology and AI companies are already showing increased valuations. One such company is Swedish firm Lovable — a platform that enables anyone to code a website or app — which grew to €100 million in revenue within a year.

“These are exciting times for venture capital,” says Hertoghs. “The AI revolution, developments in biotech, and renewed attention for (cyber)security bring many opportunities. We believe enormous prospects still lie ahead for investors, and we are pleased to give them access to this attractive but hard-to-reach asset class.”
